What's my story?
Who am I?
I’m a wife, mother, and science educator who has always like to craft and create. My husband and I built our little house in the woods shortly after getting married. After living through 3 floods in two years, we elevated our home and are now on the road to renovate it ourselves and make it exactly what we want.
Things That Make Me Smile
- Cats (I have three)
- Quilts
- Sewing and creating
- Things that are old or homemade
- Things that are unique and have a purpose
- Science and discovery (I still have my childhood microscope and rock polisher!)
There are so many everyday things that become more special when they have a story or get to be featured on a shelf or a wall. Our house is full of things that remind us of family or times gone by.
Things I've Learned
I think there’s something to be learned from every situation, whether it’s good or bad. After being married for more than 30 years, my husband and I have been through a lot. Some tough times feel like they will never end, and our flood recovery is one of those times. Here are a few life lessons that I’ve picked up along the way.
- A house is never complete.
- We can do almost any home project ourselves, as long as we're not in a hurry.
- Don't wait until all of those projects are done to start enjoying your home.
